Coastal Vineyard Tour

€89

per person

Catalonia is world famous for producing some of the world’s finest wine and cava and our winery tour will combine a leisurely coastal ride with a guided tour of a local vineyard including a tasting of their own produce.

Following the beachfront out of Barcelona we will head north along the coast to the town of Montgat. Heading inland through the town, we will have a short climb up to the vineyard situated in the valley. Your local guide will show you the vineyards and cellars, with a history of the winery and production process, you will have a chance to sample some of their wines and cavas and even buy your favourite bottle!

We will stop in Montgat after the winery visit for some fresh local tapas right on the beach before heading our way back along the coast to Barcelona.

This one experience hit all my traveling essentials: See outside the main city: check! Get outside in nature: check! Beach, vineyards, exercise, off the beaten path, local expert view: check check check! I couldn’t have asked for better bike buddies/tour guides in Nico and Kat who led the ride. First good sign: the shop Barcelobike. If you are a gear nerd you will love this shop. It looks technical and busy, but utilitarian and unpretentious. Also – I noticed with several other bike tours on AirBnb, the price of the bike rent and helmet is not included. This had everything including the wine tour pre-arranged so I literally had zero worries. I just jumped on the nice carbon bike that Nico fit to me perfectly by sight, and off we went. Going there, Nico gave a lot of local facts. Kat seems to be quite the history buff so also gave awesome insight! They dropped me off at Alta Alella, a small family owned, organic and natural winery. The estate is nestled in a small valley just 2 km from the sea, with the *perfect* view. Pauline, a very cool French business student, gave a great 2 hour tour. She also poured generous servings for tasting the beautiful cava and range of reds and whites. More about the bicycle ride itself. It had a perfect combination of straight beachside spinning, windy Badalona residential areas, sufficiently challenging hill climbs, a little bit of sand and rock to keep things interesting, and coming back to the city, a small obstacle course of pedestrians along the beach and Arc de Triomphe. Little bonus – after the hot day they rode past the spray of a big fountain – the perfect little cool-off! The whole time Nico and Kat were a seamless team with one always leading and the other bringing up the back, so I always felt super safe with the road condition and cars. I wish I could stay longer and join Nico and Kat for another cycle tour! I will remember this perfect day forever!
